Successful Fish Relocation Partnership
In partnership with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, the Club made great effort to save and relocate as many fish as possible as the pond on hole #5 was drained to accommodate the redesign of holes #5 and #6.
Below is a message from Scott Hermann, who helped lead the efforts in partnership with the Golf Course Maintenance Team.
"Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and assistance at the Country Club of Virginia. It was truly amazing to observe the fish biomass present within the pond. The density of gizzard shad came as quite the surprise. The amazing size of the handful of black crappie collected were surely taking advantage of the juvenile gizzard shad population. We were able to collect an impressive abundance of largemouth bass. All fish were transferred to Dorey Park Pond to the delight of onlookers that were present at the park. Best of luck with the renovation and reconfiguration of that area of the golf course. Hopefully all goes smoothly." - Scott Herman, Fisheries Biologist, Department of Wildlife Resources
Custom Tee & Greens Mix
Over the past six months, CCV staff and project consultants have worked with project partner Luck Ecosystems to develop custom greens mix for Tuckahoe Creek. Several different blends were considered and tested through an independent laboratory before the selection of the optimal mix. This custom “CCV Mix” is now being produced and delivered to the Club as a part of project preparation.
